One of our key goals as a club is to continue being a friendly and welcoming place in which to enjoy your tennis. Situated down a lane off Thorn Road, this part of Bearsden is considered a quiet, leafy suburban area. We have been one of the foremost clubs for developing junior players in Scotland for a long time now. We love what we do here!
Having a great range of tennis and social events on throughout the year helps us offer the variety that people look for when choosing a club to join. Training camps, social doubles, ladies mornings and hosting local tournaments feature regularly on our schedule. Not to mention our annual Open Day and BBQ in the summer which is always well attended and helps us grow our tennis community.
As an LTA registered venue, our club receives an allocation of pairs of Wimbledon tickets. If you’re a member of the club then you are eligible to enter the ballot each year and, with a bit of luck, you may find yourself heading on a trip to this superb Grand Slam event.

“Super friendly club with great coaching! I’ve recently joined Thorn after a year of pay-as-you-go fun coaching on Saturday mornings (Rusty Rackets) I have become really passionate about my tennis and am enjoying growing in skill and consistency. It’s great to have made new friends too.”
“I’ve been a member of Thorn Park for several years now and having started as a novice player at Rusty Rackets I have seen my game and skill grow steadily which I’ve found very rewarding. The members are a friendly bunch and there are some great players here at the club. Highly recommend!”
“Joining Thorn has been brilliant for our family. The club members have been so friendly and welcoming and coaching staff are patient but enthusiastic. They work hard to help you improve. Great all-weather courts with fun social events organised throughout the year mean we can enjoy tennis together as a family all year round.”
“My daughter has received great coaching at Thorn Park. It has improved her game significantly and because of that, is now a member of the West of Scotland County squad. The Coaches are fantastic with the children and I feel it’s a great place to be a member!”
“Thorn Park is a fantastic example of what a local tennis club should be about. It’s warm, inviting and friendly as well as offering fantastic opportunities for playing tennis at any level. I was a member as a child and returned only recently after a prolonged absence from both tennis and Bearsden. It’s so lovely to see how the club has grown but yet maintained it’s ‘local’ club feel.”
“I’ve made great friends here, having been recruited into one of the teams. It’s well and truly become a fun and important part of my life. It’s fabulous to see both adults and children out enjoying tennis at all times of the year on our new courts. I cannot recommend it highly enough whether you’re an experienced player or never held a racket in your life. You will be made to feel most welcome. Come join!”
“Joining Thorn Park has been a great motivator to get me back into my tennis at the age of 50 but more importantly enjoying it. Thanks to the enthusiastic coaches and the friendly atmosphere within the club.”
“Thorn Park is a friendly, inclusive tennis club. My boys are junior members and have lots of matchplay opportunities. The coaching team is excellent and offer lots of coaching sessions from team level to fun social sessions. Great place to play tennis, whether you are an experienced player or a beginner.”
“Since starting at the club I have found a group of like minded people who want to play tennis regardless of how good or bad I am come rain, snow or, even sometimes, shine. It keeps me active in the winter and gives mea focus in the summer. The regular group coaching session has improved my tennis beyond all recognition. I will never be good but I have more fun and focus on being adequate opposition against my son!”
“Fantastic courts, excellent coaching staff and friendly members. Joining Thorn Park has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.”
